Erin Moriarty’s star has exploded since the release of Amazon Prime’s video series The Boys. Almost everyone has watched this ant-supe satirical comedy now.
There has, however, been a discussion not just about the show’s characters but about the real-life personalities of the cast. And Erin’s, aka Annie’s, aka Starlight’s, appearance has been a big part of it.erin
Seeing the actress’ face change from seasons 1 to 3 of the show, many believed that Erin Moriarty had plastic surgery. And if it wasn’t that, it must have been drastic weight loss. But was it really any of that? Let’s find out.
But First, Who Is Erin Moriarty?
Many viewers of the show know Erin as Starlight, but few know that she began her acting career at age 11. Strangely enough, her first acting gig was in a theatre production of the musical Annie as Annie (talk about going full circle).
From then on, she went on to play supporting small roles in other TV series like Law & Order, Red Widow, True Detective and Netflix’s Jessica Jones. Meanwhile, she also did some work for big-screen productions like Blood Father, Captain Fantastic, Monster Party and Driven, among others.
However, it wasn’t until The Boys that “Starlight” really shone on her, as she played Annie January, a character based on the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. Currently, the actress is engaged in the filming of the fourth season of the show.
Has Erin Moriarty Had Plastic Surgery?
Many people believe that Erin allegedly had the following procedures done.
Rhinoplasty
Also known as a nose job, rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that involves reshaping the contours of the nose. And this is the procedure that the actress is most popularly believed to have had.
When comparing her before and after photos, many people notice that her nose looks narrower now, and the tip appears more refined. Additionally, there used to be a bump at the bridge of her nose, which is not visible anymore.
Some also point to a slight asymmetry between her left and right nostrils before she had this rumoured nose job.
Buccal Fat Removal
Another surgery that the Driven actress is widely speculated to have had is buccal fat removal. In this, fat pads are removed from the hollows of the cheeks so that the facial structure becomes more prominent.
Again, this was something that many people noticed in the later seasons of the show. While some said that it was probably due to weight loss, others were more insistent on the idea of plastic surgery.
Blepharoplasty
Also known as eyelid surgery, it aims at removing excess skin and fat from around the upper and lower eyelids. Done on the upper eyelids, it can make the area above the eyes more hollowed.
Seeing that happen in some of Erin’s more recent snaps, people assumed that it must have been the work of yet another plastic surgery.
V-Line Jaw Surgery
In combination with the plethora of procedures mentioned above that Erin Moriarty allegedly had, add v-line jaw surgery to the mix.
In this, the surgeon shaves the jawbone and the chin to reshape the face.
You might have heard people say that the actress had her jaw shaved to change her face shape and make it look more pointed than square.
Boob Job
With Erin’s petite frame, many people cried plastic surgery once again after seeing some of her recent Instagram posts showing off her curves.
Many said that she had gone under the knife to get implants so that she could enhance the volume of her breasts. So, boob job is also on the list of all Erin Moriarty’s alleged plastic surgeries.
Fillers and Botox
As far as non-invasive treatments are concerned, it’s also speculated that Erin had both fillers and Botox.
Fillers essentially enhance the volume of a particular area, like the cheeks or lips. And Botox, on the other hand, works by paralysing the muscles in a particular area so that they don’t form deeper wrinkles.
Erin is believed to have had lip and cheek fillers along with Botox in her forehead, which apparently is the reason why her eyebrows look more arched now.
Did Erin Moriarty Really Have Any of These Surgeries?
Except for rhinoplasty, it doesn’t really seem like the actress has had any work done. Most of the physical changes that she has gone through can be attributed to weight loss and even ageing.
These changes, when combined with different makeup techniques and lighting, could further give the impression that the actress had work done. However, looking at her before and after photos, there is no dramatic change in her eyes or body shape.
Her lips were always fuller in the middle, and to this day, they remain unchanged. However, the contoured face after weight loss can make her lips appear bigger than before. The same goes for her face shape, which is also just the same as it used to be.
Has Erin Moriarty Said Anything About Her Plastic Surgery?
Erin hasn’t addressed any of the plastic surgery rumours, but she has called out all those who had trolled her over her appearance.
No doubt, the discourse around her appearance has been more than toxic, with many calling her “ugly” and “old-looking,” among many, many other things.
In an Instagram post, she shared an essay penned by a fan of the show who had written about this very thing.
With that, she also said, “I do feel silenced. I do feel dehumanized. I do feel paralyzed. I’ve put blood, sweat, and tears into this role (over & over & over again), I’ve grown UP in this character’s shoes (*emphasis on grown up – we change & evolve mentally AND physically).”
Alluding to her character in the show, she further said, “…I’ve opened up a vein for this role and this kind of trolling is exactly what this role (Annie) would speak out against…”
Needless to say, even if the actress did have plastic surgery, it’s nothing to do with anybody else because it’s her body.
Conclusion
Although a lot has been said about Erin Moriarty’s face surgery, the truth is that the actress may have had a rhinoplasty at most. However, unless the actress confirms it herself, we can’t say for sure whether she did or did not have plastic surgery.
Most of the changes that people are seeing can be explained by weight loss and the very natural process of ageing.
You lose facial fat if you cut down on carbs and start burning them. Additionally, as you age, facial fat also atrophies, so the underlying structures become more prominent.
It’s always important to remember that the decision to have plastic surgery is a personal one, and you should respect that, celebrity or no celebrity.
