Bit of a longshot but i figured ill ask here.
I spent like four hours yesterday trying to edit title screen for my gba game as im finishing an english fan translation . I'm like 99% done what was started 13 years ago. I just need to modify the title screen options. I dont care to edit the title itself, but i do for the options it has. LZ77 compression obv
going from Japanese to English

All the guides that I find are pretty dated, which makes sense. I don't know if any of you guys also have similar experience and could help.
I've got all the tools I need. I've ripped My title tileset/map offsets and saved the bmp. I did raw dumps. I got the palette offsets for both. I've already created text options on a blank bmp in english to replace the japanese.
But this is as far as I can get anything else and it's not connecting for me. I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong here.
This is the guide ive been referencing so far and did well for the most part.
Some of the tools seem to be built specifically for pokemon, and it's not helping with raw dumps of other games etc. And what they have in text is not what they use in their gif examples. So it is harder to follow along. My game also doesnt have as much going on for title screen than theirs.

Basically, the part i'm having trouble with is how i'm going to rearrange these tiles, and then properly swap over to what i've made in photoshop.
If I had pictures, I would show the title map. But alas im working right meow.
But the options for this isn't as simple as just modifying the text, unfortunately its an LZ77 compressed bmp tileset/map.
So it's got the title graphics and the option text all in an image kinda scrambled.
So I would basically need to replace part of it. Image wise rather than text change like you would in rom hacking pokemon gba titles.

When there's a huge graphic to edit and no tool works, I always rely on CrystalTile2's tile composition tool.
If you have the compressed tile data and know how to decompress it, you can load it up on CT2, import the palette, and patiently piece the tiles together on the grid, export it, edit it in ps or whatever and import it back, compress it, and repoint it if the final size is bigger. If you want to change the tilemap there are other tools out there, or you can just manually do it with a hex editor.
I don't think there's a better way to do this since each game will store the tiles in a different order. CT2, in my experience tends to import the tiles incorrectly too, so you may need to import multiple times until it looks correct.

Looking forward this. This is a game which we also wanted an English translation since loooong ago.
I assume you tested on the internal GBA emulator on NSO right?

Oooooooh. When/where do you think you'll be releasing the patch, if you don't mind me asking?

Ill put it on my github. And soon. Im trying to figure out how the previous person who started the project did some graphics shenanigans to place them in via script. As i would prefer that over having to have you guys manually add in each graphic for title screen and multiplayer.
If if multiplayer isnt cared about as much i can release it right now ig.
